Power up for the PSAT with Klein YOUniversity
It’s PSAT season in Klein ISD, and we’re here to offer you and your child a convenient solution at your fingertips. Brand new this year, families and students can enroll in FREE, self-paced online courses through our go-to resource hub, KleinYOUniversity.
Take the Power Up for the PSAT Course
Every student grades 10 & 11 (9th grade students and their families had to "opt-in" to take the test) will take the PSAT on Tuesday, October 29, 2024. We know many questions surround this critical exam from families and students alike, so we want to take this opportunity to ensure that everyone is confident and fully equipped to succeed on this test!
DID YOU KNOW?
-
PSAT does NOT stand for “Practice SAT.” The official title of this test is PSAT/NMSQT, which stands for Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test. For 11th graders, the test is critically important as it is the PSAT/NMSQT, the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. This means that to become a National Merit Scholar and receive scholarship money, you must do well on this test - although it’s always a good idea to try your best!
-
Answering a question wrong doesn’t count against you; you just aren’t awarded any points for that question. When in doubt, guess. It can’t hurt you and can only help you (on this specific test!)
-
Taking the PSAT (and taking it seriously) gives you a general feel for the SAT layout and the types of questions asked.
-
This will allow you to gauge your strengths and weaknesses and identify where to improve.
If you have questions that you’d like answered, please email Klein ISD Advanced Academics Director Kathleen Plott at kplott@kleinisd.net.
