Amelia McCammon named Klein ISD October Distinguished Alumni
At the October meeting of the Board of Trustees, Klein High graduate Amelia McCammon was honored as the Distinguished Klein ISD Alumni of the Month. Board Trustee Dustin Creager nominated Ms. McCammon for this honor.
“Not only does she bring joy, but she inspires so many around her and loves this school district,” Trustee Dustin Creager said. “It is clear that Klein ISD is incredibly fortunate to continue to benefit from alumnus Ms. McCammon.”
Ms. McCammon has been a long-time member of the Klein community, attending Brill Elementary and Kleb Intermediate before Klein High; Klein is where she discovered her love for cheerleading.
At Klein High, Ms. McCammon was a four-year All-American cheerleader, a Student Council board member, and participated in the Peer Assistance and Leadership (PALS) Program. In her senior year, she created the Diamond Dolls program, which encouraged community involvement in athletic events.
After graduating, Ms. McCammon went on to graduate Magna Cum Laude from Texas Tech University. Her passion for education prompted her to return to Klein ISD after college to serve as a U.S. History Teacher, Department Chair, Ulrich Cheer Coach, a Klein Education Foundation Grant winner, and ultimately earn the honor of being Ulrich Teacher of the Year.
“Klein ISD is truly the créme de la créme in regards to education,” Ms. McCammon said. “I was able to do all of these great things because of the encouragement from my educators, teachers, coaches, and I’m so proud to live in such a wonderful community.”
Now, as a Klein ISD parent, Ms. McCammon volunteers her time in the district, following in her mother’s footsteps. She is a volunteer coordinator and Vice President of Fundraising at Frank Elementary.
“Her commitment to Klein ISD goes beyond her own successful journey as an alumnus,” Trustee Dustin Creager said. “At a very young age, Ms. McCammon’s parents instilled in her and her sister the importance of giving back and being an active community member.”
Ms. McCammon has worked for the Houston Texans as an alumni associate in the Cheerleader Program for the past five football seasons. She is also a successful businesswoman. Her business, Amelia Rose Photography, earned a Houston Chronicle award as Houston’s Best of the Best Photographer.
We are so blessed to have alumni like Ms. McCammon in Klein ISD who are dedicated to our community. Thank you, Ms. McCammon, for all you do!
